We’re so proud to see our apprentices learning and developing their skills. We believe the benefits of an apprenticeship are incomparable, here are 5 reasons why apprenticeships are a great way to kick start your career:

  • Earn while you learn
  • Gain the skills employers want
  • Avoid student loans
  • Become an essential part of the team
  • Build your professional network

In the construction sector we are constantly looking at lessons learnt and innovating. It’s no secret that construction is often seen as an industry behind the curve when it comes to digitisation.

Carpentry is a traditional trade and people often think that technology gets left behind, but with the pandemic we have all learnt to adapt and work smarter not harder. This isn’t just about having battery powered tools; it’s about using IT to stay connected safely and using cloud-based solutions so we can work together with the same information, for better project decision making.

Feedback from our contractors show that COVID-safe sites are slower, but better.

Our foreman’s have been reporting back to us demonstrating the quality and productivity benefits from the industry’s adaption to the coronavirus. Benefits include proactive sequencing and less overlaps between subcontractors, which has in turn increased workflow and standard. Another noticeable benefit is increased tidiness, a key factor in maintaining good relationships on site with management, and Health & Safety.

During this time Hammerwood is continuing to review and adapt to ensure positive changes are captured and embedded.

We have welcomed two new apprentices to the Hammerwood workforce!

Luke Jennings & Louis Brassett have joined us this September and will be attending Crawley college for a Level 2 – Carpentry & Joinery Apprenticeship.

Congratulations to the site team at St Modwen Heathywood, Copthorne. Not only have they been awarded subcontractor of the month for August 2020, but they have held it continuously since June 2020.

As proud sponsors of East Grinstead Cricket Club we have been eager to welcome the Hammerwood Cricket Ground! The HCG is a historic ground in beautiful surroundings – It will be refurbished, conserved, and made new.

If you would like to support the redevelopment of the new ground – Every little helps!
